We are seeking a South Island Area Manager to lead our supplier, customer and processing operations across the South Island, based from our Christchurch facility. Reporting to the Operations Manager / Kaiwhakahaere Rauemi, you will be responsible for leading the South Island operation, ensuring exceptional service delivery to customers while building strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and key stakeholders across the range of programmes delivered by 3R. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance people leadership with operational management. You will oversee production, inventory control, logistics and customer service while ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are maintained. Key responsibilities Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team by fostering a culture of trust, accountability and continuous improvement. Deliver consistently professional, responsive and customer-focused service to both internal and external customers. Plan and manage operational resources and workflows to achieve service, quality and productivity targets. Develop, implement and continually improve operational policies, procedures and systems, with a strong focus on health, safety and environmental performance. Review existing operational processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and service delivery. Champion and model the values and culture of 3R across the South Island operation. Manage employee leave, training, job rotation, health & safety and resource allocation to ensure business needs are met. Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, customers and stakeholders throughout the region. Identify opportunities to grow existing programmes and support new business opportunities within the South Island. About you We'd love to hear from you if you have experience in many of these areas: Experience leading a team in an operational, logistics, warehouse, manufacturing, recycling or similar environment. You're confident giving direction, supporting others and helping people do their best work. Experience managing logistics, production or operational activities, with a focus on quality, efficiency and continuous improvement. Sound planning, organisational and problem-solving skills. A genuine interest in sustainability, recycling and waste minimisation. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. The ability to build trusted relationships with customers, suppliers and stakeholders at all levels.
