Job Description
Operate some serious gear on a major Hawke's Bay project. We're looking for an experienced Crane Operator to join a professional team in Napier. Ideally, you'll be qualified to operate both a 100-tonne crawler crane and a tower crane , helping deliver safe and efficient lifting operations on a long-term project. If you have strong experience operating either crane type, we'd still like to hear from you. Location: Napier, Napier Start date: Immediate Pay rate: $45–$55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Weekly pay. About the Role As a Crane Operator, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of tower and crawler cranes, working closely with dogmen, riggers, and site supervisors to complete lifting operations safely and on schedule. This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled crew on a long-term project with consistent work. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a 100-tonne crawler crane and/or tower crane. Complete lifting operations in accordance with lift plans and site procedures. Conduct daily pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks. Work closely with dogmen, riggers, and ground crews during lifting operations. Maintain clear communication to ensure safe and efficient crane movements. Report equipment faults and maintenance requirements promptly. Follow all site health and safety policies and procedures. What We're Looking For Proven experience operating tower cranes and/or crawler cranes. Ideally qualified to operate both: Tower Crane: NZQA Unit Standards 3789 and 3794 (or equivalent). Crawler Crane: NZQA Unit Standards 3789 and 20526 (or equivalent). Strong understanding of lift planning and safe crane operations. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with dogmen, riggers, and site crews. Reliable, safety-focused, and committed to high standards.
