Community Respiratory Nurse

Asthma and Respiratory Management Centre – Tauranga, North Island Asthma & Respiratory Management BOP provides free lung function testing, education and advice to people with asthma, COPD and other respiratory conditions. We are based in Tauranga and hold regular clinics around the Bay of Plenty. We have an exciting opportunity for another experienced nurse to join our expanding team, with a desire to make a significant contribution to better health outcomes for people with respiratory conditions. For this position you will need to be task-orientated and be an excellent communicator with great time management skills. Whilst prior experience is preferred, training will be provided to the successful applicant. Much of our work involves diagnosis through spirometry and education to help clients achieve optimum control of their conditions, so you will mainly be working on a one-to-one basis with clients and their whanau. The vacancy is ideally 40 hours per week (days and exact hours to be agreed with the successful applicant) and will be based in Greerton, but may involve occasional travel to out-reach clinics elsewhere in our region. Our days/hours are Monday - Friday 8-4.30pm. The successful applicant will have: Registered Nurse qualification with a current practising certificate ideally with a good respiratory and medical knowledge/experience preferred. Knowledge of spirometry and respiratory medications preferred. Ability to manage patient consultations and write appropriate reports. Ability to develop appropriate networks with relevant health providers. A commitment to improving equitable respiratory health outcomes for all communities, including Māori and Pasifika. High degree of computer literacy and competency in MS Office. A working knowledge of MedTech Evolution would be an advantage. Flexibility to work alternative/additional hours and days in any location when the need arises. Full, clean driving licence and a non-smoker is essential.
