Job Description
Turner Road Architecture is looking for an experienced Architectural Designer/Technician to join our team in Cambridge. We are a well-established award-winning architectural practice based in Cambridge, New Zealand. Our projects range from bespoke new homes and major alterations through to commercial developments and design work for our associated high-end transportable housing company, Elevate Homes. We are looking for someone who is technically strong, detail focused and capable of producing high-quality documentation. Just as importantly, we are looking for a great person who will fit well into our team, communicate well and bring a positive attitude to the office. While strong technical experience is important, we are ultimately focused on finding the right person. This role could suit someone with a solid base of experience who is ready to grow, or a more experienced person who wants to become an integral part of the Turner Road Architecture team. About the role This role will involve supporting the design and documentation for our projects. You will work closely with our Architectural Manager and Director to produce concept plans, developed design drawings, working drawings and building consent documentation. A beneficial, but not essential, part of the role will also be helping Turner Road Architecture continue its transition into Revit. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is confident using Revit and can help improve our systems, templates and workflows as we continue to develop this area of the practice. The role is based in our Cambridge office and would suit someone who enjoys being part of a friendly but driven team that takes pride in producing quality architectural work. What you will be doing Your role will include: Preparing architectural drawings, including concept plans, developed design drawings and construction documentation. Producing accurate building consent documentation for residential and commercial projects. Ensuring drawings comply with the New Zealand Building Code, NZS3604 and relevant standards. Assisting with building consent applications and coordination with consultants and councils. Working closely with our Architectural Manager and Director to develop project documentation. Liaising with engineers, consultants, builders and clients where required. Assisting with site visits and site measurements where required. Supporting the delivery of projects to agreed timelines and quality standards. Helping support our transition into Revit, including improving templates, systems and documentation workflows. Maintaining drawing standards, document control and accurate project records. About you We are looking for someone with strong technical ability, but also someone who is enjoyable to work with and can contribute positively to the team. Ideally, you will have: A minimum of three years’ experience working as an Architectural Designer, Architectural Technician or in a similar role. We are equally interested in hearing from more experienced applicants, as ultimately this role is about finding the right person for the team. Ideally strong Revit experience, with the ability to help support and lead our transition further into Revit. Strong working knowledge of NZS3604 timber framed construction. A good understanding of the New Zealand Building Code and the building consent process. Experience producing detailed working drawings and construction documentation. Working knowledge of Autodesk software, including Revit and AutoCAD. The ability to read and coordinate consultant drawings, including structural and services documentation. Strong attention to detail and a high level of technical accuracy. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment. A positive, professional and practical approach. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. The ability to work independently when required, while still being part of a wider team. A commitment to producing high-quality documentation. Strong problem-solving ability. Experience with Microsoft Office. Qualifications A relevant qualification in Architecture or Architectural Technology recognised in New Zealand is preferred. Why work with Turner Road Architecture? At Turner Road Architecture, you will be joining a friendly but driven and experienced team that values good design, clear communication and quality documentation. We are a down-to-earth practice with a strong reputation. We work on interesting, well considered projects and take pride in delivering a high standard of service to our clients. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a positive team environment, become an essential part of it and work on quality architectural projects. This role would suit someone who is looking for more than just their next job. We are looking for someone who wants to settle into the role, grow with the business and become a valued, long-term member of the Turner Road Architecture team. Full-time position. Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Based in Cambridge, New Zealand. Salary to be negotiated based on experience. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand. Please note that Turner Road Architecture is not offering visa sponsorship for this role. #J-18808-Ljbffr
