We embody the Pasifika spirit and work with a diverse range of people; Pasifika, Māori, Pākehā, Asian, and other communities. Our practice is grounded in whānaungatanga and whānau ora, with the values of respect, aroha, and compassion, and the goal of meaningful and lasting change in our community. Alongside One for the Road, we deliver counselling and therapy across anger management, depression, trauma, grief, and relationships, as well as rangatahi programmes and whānau support. Our work in the impaired driving arena, including section 65 NZTA assessments, is one of our particular strengths. The role and what is expected: Co-facilitating the One for the Road group therapy programme and carrying an individual caseload, delivered to agreed clinical and contractual standards. Completing individual interviews, brief interventions, including section 65 NZTA assessments (training and supervision provided where needed). Maintaining accurate, timely, and professional case notes in our client management system. Regular business travel, in tandem with a colleague, to programme locations in the Central North Island (particularly the Waikato) to implemented One for the Road group programmes. Participating fully in clinical supervision, peer review, and team planning, and contributing to the ongoing development of the programme. The position is full-time preferred; however a substantial part-time arrangement may be considered for the right candidate. What you’ll bring DAPAANZ practitioner registration, or an allied health qualification and demonstrable progress toward DAPAANZ registration with a clear timeline to completion. Preferably a relevant qualification in the alcohol and other drug field. A minimum of two years’ experience in AOD, addictions, or counselling, including groupwork facilitation. Strong clinical assessment, brief intervention, and case management skills, with confident use of client management systems. Commitment to whānau-centred, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and mana-enhancing practice that reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi and te ao Māori. A genuine connection to, and understanding of, Pasifika and/or Māori culture, values, and community. Experience applying Pacific wellbeing frameworks (e.g. Fonofale) and/or Māori models (e.g. Te Whare Tapa Whā). Strong written and verbal communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Fluency or working knowledge of te reo Māori or a Pacific language (Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Cook Islands Māori, etc.) is highly desirable. A full, clean driver's licence.
