Family Help Trust – Christchurch, South Island 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours per week) – Ōtautahi Family Help Trust (FHT) has supported high-risk whānau in Canterbury since 1990, working to break intergenerational cycles of disadvantage and create better futures for tamariki. As part of the Mana Ake – Stronger for Tomorrow service, we deliver support to tamariki in Years 1–8 who are experiencing challenges to their mental health and wellbeing. We are seeking a passionate and experienced practitioner to join our team in a full-time role. This unique position combines direct Mana Ake delivery with programme coordination and facilitation responsibilities across Family Help Trust. The role is split between Mana Ake service delivery (0.8 FTE) and programme development and coordination responsibilities (0.2 FTE). The Mana Ake component of the role is a rural-based position working across Selwyn schools and communities, supporting tamariki and whānau to enhance wellbeing and resilience. The additional component includes coordinating our Tamariki Maia programme, parent/caregiver education programme facilitation, and providing support across Family Help Trust services, including Safer Families. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a diverse role, is confident engaging with groups and whānau, and has strong organisational skills to coordinate programmes and initiatives alongside direct client work. In this role, you will: Provide hands-on support for tamariki and whānau through the Mana Ake service across Selwyn. Deliver creative, strengths-based interventions that build resilience and wellbeing. Work collaboratively with schools, communities, colleagues, and partner agencies. Coordinate the planning and organisation of Tamariki Maia school holiday activities. Undertake training and facilitate parent education programmes. Contribute to service delivery across other Family Help Trust programmes as required. What you'll bring: Experience working with tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau. Experience in assessment, intervention planning, and outcome-focused practice. Confidence facilitating groups and presenting to a range of audiences. Excellent organisational, planning, and coordination skills. The ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Cultural competence and a commitment to child safety. A full driver's licence. The ability to work confidently across rural Selwyn communities and schools.
