Job Description

Open Polytechnic operates nationwide as the specialist provider of vocational open and distance learning. Open Polytechnic is seeking seeking experienced and registered social workers to join the team of Adjuncts contracted to mark (assess) learner assessments for the programme. The ideal candidate will preferably have: Significant experience in social work practice. A relevant social work qualification. A current Practising Certificate issued by the Social Workers Registration Board . A demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive social work practice. A sound understanding of social work education, professional standards, and assessment requirements. Strong organisational and time management skills, including the ability to meet marking deadlines. Experience working collaboratively within a professional team environment. Experience in tertiary education, assessment, supervision, field education, or professional training (desirable). Confidence using online systems and technology to support marking and communication. Adjunct activities include Marking (Assessing) Mark learner assessments electronically via our Online Marking tool, providing accurate, reliable, and valid assessment that is consistent with the marking schedule, and provide feedback that supports ākonga (learners) in their learning and development. You will be responsible for: Applying consistent academic and professional judgement when assessing student work. Identifying and escalating concerns relating to academic integrity, student wellbeing, or professional suitability where appropriate. Working collaboratively with Programme Delivery Managers, Academic Staff Members, and other Adjunct Markers to ensure consistency of assessment decisions. Participating in moderation and calibration activities as required. Providing feedback on assessment tasks and marking processes to support ongoing programme quality improvement. Upholding the values, ethics, and professional standards of social work practice and the Social Workers Registration Board. The successful applicant will have: Technology capability with access to internet, computer, and telephone/mobile phone Excellent written communication skills. Passion for quality, positive outcomes for ākonga NZ Bank Account and IRD number. Training and access to online tools will be provided. This is a contracted Adjunct role which is undertaken part-time and offsite. Training with regards to Open Polytechnic’s expectations will be provided.
