Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way. No two days will be the same! As a Lifeguard, you are responsible for: Providinga safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers Educatingand enforcingpool rules Responding to any First Aid emergencies Ensuringour pool and the surrounding areas are always clean We are looking for permanent 20-hour part-time (at least 1 weekend shift) and casual lifeguard team members. Please note that the shifts for these positions are subject to change according to the roster and the needs of the centre, so flexibility is essential. We are looking for strong swimmers of all ages, who are dedicated to helping others and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment. As a team member, you’ll need to stay alert, work well in a team, and provide excellent customer service. You will be an enthusiastic team player, you’ll have a positive attitude and infectious energy and be committed to providing your customers with an exceptional experience. You will also need to have a current First Aid Certificate and Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC). The first step in becoming a lifeguard for Auckland Council is to be able to pass this swim test: Swim 50m breaststroke Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool Tread water for 5 minutes If you have not yet got your PLPC, you will be required to attend a two-week training at West Wave from 28 Sept till 9 October 2026 at West Wave and Auckland CBD.
