About the Role We’re looking for an experienced and commercially-minded Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager to join our growing team in either Queenstown or Wānaka . This is not a compliance-focused role for someone who simply follows a checklist. We are looking for a tax professional who enjoys solving complex problems, identifying opportunities, and helping clients navigate challenging tax issues. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of New Zealand taxation and a strong interest in areas such as international tax, cross-border structuring, and property taxation . You’ll work directly with a diverse range of clients, including business owners, investors, high-net-worth individuals, property developers, and international clients from a variety of industries, backgrounds, and nationalities. What You’ll Be Doing Providing strategic New Zealand tax advice across a broad range of matters Advising on international and cross-border tax issues Assisting clients with property taxation, structuring, acquisitions, disposals, and development projects Identifying tax efficiencies and opportunities while managing risk appropriately Researching and interpreting legislation, case law, and Inland Revenue guidance Working closely with clients face-to-face to understand their commercial objectives Collaborating with a team that values practical advice, innovation, and strong client relationships Contributing to complex and interesting advisory projects rather than purely routine compliance work About You We’re interested in capable professionals from a range of backgrounds. You may be: An experienced tax accountant A Chartered Accountant (preferred but not essential) A tax lawyer A former Inland Revenue professional who has since worked in private practice Someone currently working in a first or second-tier advisory firm and looking for a lifestyle change Most importantly, you will bring strong technical expertise, commercial thinking, and a genuine interest in helping clients achieve better outcomes. Ideal Experience 7+ years' experience in accounting, tax, or a related professional services environment Minimum 4 years' experience specialising in taxation Strong knowledge of New Zealand tax legislation and its practical application Experience in tax advisory work Exposure to international tax and/or property taxation would be highly regarded Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to think creatively and identify solutions that others may overlook What We’re Looking For Deep technical tax knowledge Curiosity and analytical thinking Commercial awareness and practical problem-solving ability Confidence building relationships with clients Friendly, approachable, and outgoing personality A team-first attitude and willingness to contribute to a positive workplace culture Someone who enjoys working on unusual, challenging, and intellectually engaging matters Why Join Us?
