We are seeking a Hydrogeologist to join our Auckland-based Water Resources team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Auckland, working 40 hours per week. The salary range for this role is $71,000 to $73,000 per annum. This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of groundwater and environmental projects, supporting infrastructure development, water resource management, environmental assessments and resource consenting processes across New Zealand. About the role As a Hydrogeologist, you will assist with the investigation, assessment and management of groundwater systems. Working alongside experienced hydrogeologists, geologists, engineers and environmental scientists, you will apply scientific principles to collect, analyse and interpret hydrogeological data and contribute to technical assessments and modelling projects. Key responsibilities include: Undertaking hydrogeological investigations to assess groundwater systems and groundwater-surface water interactions. Planning and carrying out field investigations, including drilling supervision, geological logging, pumping tests, slug tests, groundwater monitoring and groundwater quality sampling. Collecting, analysing and interpreting hydrogeological, geological and environmental data. Preparing hydrogeological cross-sections, conceptual site models and technical assessments. Assisting with groundwater flow and contaminant transport modelling using specialised software. Evaluating groundwater quantity and quality to support environmental and infrastructure projects. Contributing to environmental impact assessments, resource consent applications and groundwater management studies. Preparing technical reports, presentations and recommendations for clients and regulatory authorities. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across PDP's national network. Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental management. What you'll bring To be successful in this role, you will have: A bachelor's degree, honours degree or master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related geoscience discipline. Academic training in groundwater science, hydrogeology or water resources. Knowledge of groundwater investigations, geological interpretation and environmental data analysis. Understanding of groundwater flow processes and groundwater quality assessments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to health and safety and a willingness to undertake fieldwork.
