We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Drama Teacher to join our vibrant Performing Arts team in a 0.4 FTE long-term relieving position for the remainder of the 2026 school year. This role is available immediately and offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students through the art of drama while contributing to a creative and collaborative department. The successful applicant will be able to teach Drama across Years 9–13, creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences that encourage creativity, confidence, performance skills, and critical thinking. You will be committed to supporting students to achieve their personal best and to contributing positively to the wider life of the school. About the role Deliver engaging Drama programmes for students in Years 9–13 Plan and implement effective lessons using a variety of teaching strategies Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment Assess and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and providing constructive feedback Use digital tools and ICT, including Office 365, to support teaching and assessment Participate in departmental meetings and professional learning opportunities Build positive relationships with students, staff, and whānau Contribute to the wider Performing Arts programme and school activities where appropriate We are looking for someone who has: A current NZ teacher registration or willing to apply for a Limited Authority to Teach Strong curriculum knowledge and effective teaching practice in Drama Excellent communication and organisational skills Confidence using digital technologies in teaching and learning A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a team A genuine passion for performing arts and student success Why join Freyberg High School?
