The opportunity We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Foodbank / Support Centre Co-Ordinator to join our team in Whakatane, Bay of Plenty. This is a part-time position that plays a vital role in coordinating the operations of our foodbank and support centre, ensuring we can effectively serve those in our community who are experiencing food insecurity and other hardships. You will be the backbone of our service delivery, managing volunteers, organising resources, and providing direct support to clients in need. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a tangible difference in people's lives whilst working within a supportive and values-driven organisation. Days of Work are: Wednesdays and Fridays 9.30pm to 1.30pm What you'll be doing Coordinating the day-to-day operations of the foodbank and support centre, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery Recruiting, training, scheduling and supporting volunteers to assist with foodbank distribution and client support activities Managing food inventory, including receiving, storing, and organising donated and purchased food items to ensure quality and variety Assessing client needs and providing appropriate support, including foodbank assistance, information on available services, and referrals to other community resources Maintaining accurate records and databases of clients, volunteers, and foodbank distribution to track impact and inform reporting Building and maintaining relationships with local food donors, community partners, and organisations to secure donations and expand resources Creating a welcoming and dignified environment for all clients, ensuring they are treated with respect and compassion What we’re looking for Proven experience in community service, volunteer coordination, or foodbank operations is highly desirable Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and manage time effectively Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable individuals Demonstrated commitment to social justice and community service values, aligned with the mission of Saint Vincent de Paul Experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and management Proficiency with computer systems and databases, including basic data entry and record keeping A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to working with people experiencing hardship Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment A current police vetting clearance or willingness to undertake one as part of our recruitment process A reliable Vehicle is a must..
