Kaiwawao Matua (Associate) - Fixed Term - Commercial

Kāhui Legal has a 12-month fixed-term opportunity in our Kaporeihana (Commercial) team based in either Wellington or Rotorua. Our team supports hapū, iwi, Māori landowners (and their commercial entities), as well as whānau and SMEs, across Aotearoa with investments, innovation, and operations in many sectors of the economy, including fisheries, farming, forestry, energy, water, data. Key responsibilities Lead advice on a broad range of complex commercial issues Provide specialist legal services to Māori entities on corporate and commercial law including structuring, contracting, transactions, developments and projects Advise on Treaty of Waitangi claims and settlement negotiations Support Māori-Crown relations matters Advise on Māori land law, intellectual property, public law, resource management and regulatory compliance About you At least three years' post-admission experience at a large or medium-sized law firm or in the public sector Experience leading advice on a broad range of complex issues Experience in commercial/corporate and/or commercial property preferred About us We aim to advance the Māori economy, Māori aspirations, and the future wellbeing of Māori by providing specialist legal services.
