Te āheinga – The opportunity Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, this pivotal role is based at Te Whare Ora o Kōpūārau, our methamphetamine recovery facility. As Clinical Lead/AOD Clinician you will lead clinical practice and provide direct addiction services that make a real difference for whaiora and their whānau. This role combines clinical leadership with Kaupapa Māori practice, guiding a multidisciplinary team and ensuring care aligns with the Pou Oranga Whaiora Model of Care. You’ll also collaborate with the Eastern Bay Iwi Provider Alliance – including Tūwharetoa ki Kāwerau, Tūhoe Hauora, and Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa – to deliver integrated, whānau-centred solutions that reduce methamphetamine harm across our rohe. Provide oversight and guidance for all clinical practices within the service, ensuring alignment with Kaupapa Māori principles and Ngā Paerewa standards. Lead and supervise clinical staff, offering coaching, reflective practice, and professional development opportunities. Deliver AOD clinical services, including comprehensive assessments, risk evaluations, care planning, and therapeutic interventions tailored to whaiora needs. Monitor and audit clinical documentation and service delivery using Ara Whanui and other tools; implement corrective actions where needed. Contribute to programme development and continuous improvement initiatives, embedding evidence-based and culturally grounded approaches. Facilitate whānau involvement in recovery planning and support wraparound services to ensure holistic care pathways. Work closely with the Eastern Bay Iwi Provider Alliance partners and other agencies to deliver integrated care. Provide leadership and support during critical incidents, ensuring safety and wellbeing for whaiora and kaimahi. Maintain accurate records, contribute to funder reporting, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Embed tikanga, mātauranga Māori, and Te Ao Māori principles into all aspects of clinical practice and team culture. Relevant clinical qualification in addiction, mental health, or a related clinical field and registration with a professional body, (DAPAANZ, NZAC). Minimum 3+ years’ experience in AOD, mental health, or kaupapa Māori health services bringing a strong understanding of the challenges faced by whaiora. Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and mātauranga Māori, with the ability to apply these principles in clinical decision making, service design, and whānau engagement. Skilled in assessment, care planning, and whānau engagement bringing confidence in conducting comprehensive assessments, developing recovery plans, and working collaboratively with whaiora and whānau. Competent in client database systems and Microsoft Office 365 Suite, familiarity with Ara Whanui or similar is an advantage.
