About the Graduate Nursing Role We are excited to welcome a dedicated and compassionate Graduate Registered Nurse who will play a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our Tamariki between the ages of 0-5. This role is designed for recent nursing graduates looking to start their career with hands‑on training, support, and development opportunities in a hauora Māori health and wellbeing environment. The Well Child Tamariki Ora Nurses role is to provide clinical support, education, and information within kaupapa Māori context to vulnerable mothers and their babies from 0 yrs - five yrs. of age to those families that live in the Porirua communities either in their homes or the Maraeroa Marae Health Clinic. You would be completing core checks and additional visits according to the Well Child Tamariki Ora Schedule. Start Date: August 2026 Key Responsibilities Actively improving access to primary health care services for whānau and their babies. Aim to improve, maintain and restore health and ensure access to care for whānau and their babies Coordinate with other health services with the aim of reducing health inequalities. Provide support and assistance to whānau and their babies being who are of Māori or Pacific decent and low income or high needs families living in Porirua communities, Develop and maintain key network linkages, and Maintain a Well Child Tamariki Ora work programme and concise filing system Develop and implement a whanau heath plan that identifies The current health status of the whānau Agreed areas for health improvement Whānau health priorities Targets for health improvements Strategies for health improvements Assessment of health improvements Review whānau health plans 6 monthly Promote Nutrition Breastfeeding Smoking cessationContraception Safe use of drugs and alcohol Injury prevention – car seat safety Cervical screening What We Offer Orientation to the organisation and the role Supportive Work Environment Preceptor Wellbeing days depending on FTE Wellbeing allowance depending on FTE Professional Development via performance appraisal, individual supervision and relevant training as required. Requirements Qualification: Bachelor's degree in nursing from a recognised institution. Registration: Current or pending registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council. Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills. Eligibility: Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand. Full clean drivers licence Understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and how it applies to your role. The needs of Māori, Pacific peoples and the community generally.
