Job Description

Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner with experience working on rotating equipment and precision mechanical repairs? We're looking for an experienced tradesperson to join a well-established industrial workshop in Kawerau, supporting customers across manufacturing, power generation, wood processing and other heavy industries. About The Role This is a hands-on workshop role focused on the repair, refurbishment and restoration of large industrial equipment, including electric motors, generators, pumps and other rotating machinery . You'll Be Involved In Dismantling and assessing mechanical equipment Measuring and assessing mechanical fits, clearances and tolerances Repairing and replacing mechanical components Manual lathe and milling work Machining and fabricating parts Working with bearings, shafts and other rotating components Quality checking repaired and replacement parts Coordinating repairs with internal teams and external subcontractors Maintaining workshop measuring equipment About You We're looking for someone with strong hands-on mechanical and machining skills who takes pride in precision and quality. You'll Ideally Have Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner or similar trade background Strong experience with rotating equipment Good knowledge of bearings, mechanical fits and tolerances Hands-on manual lathe and milling experience Ability to read and work from technical drawings Strong precision measurement skills Good problem-solving and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and time management skills Comfortable working with computers and numbers Experience with electric motors, generators, pumps or gearboxes would be highly relevant.
