Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation – Wellington Central, North Island Psychology, Counselling & Social Work (Healthcare & Medical) Permanent .6 FTE (22.5 hours) Are you wanting a rewarding role that makes a real difference? Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation (HELP) supports individuals, whānau and communities impacted by sexual violence in Wellington, Porirua and the Kāpiti coast. Sexual violence can happen to anybody in our community. HELP offers support to anyone who has encountered sexual abuse or assault, recent or historical, no matter the age, gender or sexual orientation. We recognise that sexual violence does not only impact an individual in isolation, so we extend support to friends and whānau. Our services include a 24/7 crisis support line, social work, counselling, and community education. Our clinical team provides a wrap-around service offering practical and emotional support to help people on their journey to wellbeing. Due to the nature of this role, a strong understanding of counselling practices from a holistic and strengths-based position that is client centred and trauma informed is required. We are looking for a New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) registered counsellor (provisional or full) or a member of the Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand (PBANZ) to join our clinical team. You will be based at one of the offices in Wellington, Porirua or Kāpiti but may occasionally be asked to travel between offices depending on client needs. Skills / Experience: must be legally eligible to work in New Zealand or have a valid work permit a recognized completed counselling qualification (minimum Level 7) a current and valid registration with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) or Psychotherapists Board of Aotearoa New Zealand (PBANZ) familiar with relevant legislation. Privacy Act, Health and Disability Act etc sound and demonstrated clinical experience in sexual abuse and trauma counselling work experience with children, young people, adults and family/whānau experience with providing group counselling support for specific families/ whānau is beneficial the ability to develop strong relationships with clients and other agencies including Government, Police and other community agencies have a proven record of maintaining confidentiality and working within the ethical limits as per NZAC comfortable with working on your own as well as part of a team, in a client led, non-judgemental way have a high level of written and spoken English and have experience of writing and maintaining appropriate client records using a client management system excellent organisational and relationship building skills commitment to bi-cultural practice and sound knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how this applies to and guides our behaviour and interventions current drivers licence and access to a vehicle clean Police record Duties include: you will be providing counselling services to clients impacted by sexual violence a minimum of four face-to-face or telehealth sessions required daily maintenance of administrative records relating to client work according to confidential and ethical guidelines manage your own caseload and work as a team member keep the Practice Lead updated on any issues relating to the delivery of HELP’s counselling services maintain relevant professional skills and knowledge through attendance of training as negotiated with the Practice Lead, Clinical Services attend mandatory fortnightly clinical supervision ensure Annual Practicing Certificate with NZAC or PBANZ, Supervision Contract and Continuing Professional Development Log are up-to-date with professional body What we provide: competitive market-related salary with benefits payment of Annual Practicing Certificate (NZAC/PBANZ) a flexible working environment individual professional development budget in line with development plan internal and external development opportunities fortnightly clinical supervision The closing date is Tuesday, 25 August 2026 @ 5:00pm and will not necessarily be adhered to, as suitable candidates will be interviewed/appointed throughout the process.
