Campus Maintenance Officer

NZIST - Whitireia and Weltec – Porirua, North Island Whitireia and WelTec are seeking a practical, hands‑on Campus Maintenance Officer to help keep our campuses and facilities in excellent condition. This role supports our sites in Porirua and Petone. As part of our Facilities team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining safe, functional, and welcoming environments for our students, staff, and visitors. No two days are the same – you’ll use your broad maintenance knowledge and problem‑solving skills to carry out a wide variety of building and grounds upkeep tasks. About the Role We are looking for someone with strong practical skills who enjoys a varied workload and takes pride in delivering quality work. You will be responsible for undertaking a range of general maintenance activities, identifying issues before they become problems, and contributing to the smooth day‑to‑day operation of our campuses. Working closely with the Facilities Manager – Buildings, you will: Carry out a variety of general building maintenance and repairs Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner Assist with the upkeep of campus facilities and grounds Identify and report maintenance issues and improvement opportunities Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety requirements Contribute positively to a customer‑focused and collaborative team environment About You To be successful in this role, you will: Have experience in general building maintenance, facilities support, or a related trade Be practical, self‑motivated, and able to turn your hand to a wide variety of tasks Have strong problem‑solving and organisational skills Take pride in delivering high‑quality work Be committed to maintaining a safe work environment Have a professional, reliable, and positive attitude This is a Monday to Friday position offering regular hours and the opportunity to work across vibrant educational campuses.
