Do you enjoy uncovering insights, influencing decision-making, and helping others become more data confident? We're looking for an experienced BI Analyst to play a pivotal role in building a data-driven culture across a leading New Zealand financial services organisation. This is far more than a reporting position. You'll be the bridge between their modern data platform and business stakeholders, empowering teams with trusted insights, self-service analytics capabilities, and data governance best practices. This is an opportunity to work across multiple business functions, partnering with senior leaders and operational teams to unlock the value of data and drive continuous improvement. What You'll Be Doing As the BI Analyst: Design, develop and maintain impactful Power BI dashboards and reports. Translate complex data into clear, compelling business stories. Deliver meaningful insights that support strategic and operational decision-making. Lead business-facing data governance initiatives and maintain key business definitions, metrics and KPIs. Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to establish alignment on reporting requirements and data standards. Champion self-service analytics by developing certified datasets, templates and best-practice frameworks. Deliver data literacy training and coaching across the organisation. Partner closely with technical teams to ensure reporting solutions meet business needs. Identify opportunities for new data sources and analytics capabilities that create business value. What You'll Bring: We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder engagement skills. You'll ideally have: 3+ years' experience in a Business Intelligence, Analytics or Data Analyst role. Relevant tertiary qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in business intelligence and analytics. Advanced Power BI development skills, including data modelling, DAX and dashboard design. Strong SQL capability and experience working across multiple data sources. Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake. Understanding of dimensional modelling and data warehouse concepts. Proven ability to communicate technical insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience gathering requirements, facilitating workshops and managing stakeholder relationships. A commercial mindset with the ability to identify trends, opportunities and risks through data. Experience with data governance, business definitions or reporting standards would be highly regarded. Only applicants with full, permanent, and unrestricted working rights in Australia/NZ will be considered. Why You'll Love This Role: Be the key driver of data literacy and self-service analytics. Influence decisions across an entire organisation. Work with modern analytics technologies and cloud data platforms. Partner with a broad range of business functions and senior stakeholders. Help shape the future direction of enterprise reporting and analytics. Join a collaborative team that values innovation, continuous improvement and learning. Enjoy genuine opportunities to grow your career and expand your impact.
