Job Description
Complete Construction – Auckland, North Island Complete Construction is seeking a highly experienced, leadership-driven Lead Estimator and Quantity Surveyor. Specialising in fit-outs, interior construction, and light commercial building projects, you will lead the commercial lifecycle of projects from initial tender through to final account. You will manage, mentor, and develop an offshore team of estimators and a quantity surveyor, shape tendering strategies, and provide robust contract administration. Working closely with project managers, clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal production teams, you will ensure that all projects are secured competitively and delivered with strict financial control. Key responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of estimators and a quantity surveyor, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture Manage departmental workloads, allocate resources for incoming tenders and active projects, and ensure all deadlines are consistently met Develop, refine, and implement best-practice estimating, cost management, and commercial processes across the business Review complex tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and scope requirements Oversee and prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for commercial fit-outs, shopfitting, joinery, and light commercial construction projects Conduct and oversee accurate quantity take-offs and material assessments Obtain, evaluate, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive submissions Identify project risks and commercial opportunities during the tender process, developing mitigation strategies Administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with commercial terms and conditions Prepare and manage precise project budgets, cost-to-complete forecasts, and cash flow projections About you 7+ years' experience in quantity surveying, estimating, and commercial management within construction, fit outs and joinery Experience or keen interest managing, mentoring, or leading a commercial team Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and procurement processes specific to interiors and fit-outs Experience with NZS 3910 or similar standard forms of contract Solid working knowledge of standard construction contracts and contract administration Proven ability to prepare accurate, winning tender submissions alongside robust post-contract financial management Extensive experience managing project costs, variations, and commercial financial reporting, coupled with strong negotiation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and present to clients A high level of accuracy and a meticulous approach to risk management Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline The opportunity to step into a pivotal leadership role and shape the commercial direction of a growing business Exposure to a diverse pipeline of high-quality, exciting commercial projects A collaborative and supportive work environment based in the central Auckland CBD office About us Complete Construction specialises in fit-outs, interior construction, and light commercial building projects, delivering high-quality spaces profitably and efficiently.
