Build and lead a new marine servicing division within an award-winning retail group. The Opportunity We are now expanding into the marine sector, introducing outboard motor sales and servicing – within the Wellington region. This is a ground-floor opportunity to help shape and grow a new division within an established and successful business. We are seeking an experienced and confident Marine Technician with strong expertise in outboard engines. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and will suit someone who takes ownership, works proactively, and enjoys being part of building something new. The role is part time (2-3 days per week), and working hours can be negotiated to suit the needs of the applicant. About the Role Diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of quality outboard brands Manage workflow, job planning, and prioritisation independently Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs, timelines, and expectations Maintain accurate records of parts, labour, and job details Contribute to the setup and development of marine workshop systems and processes What We’re Looking For Ideally 10+ years’ experience working on outboard engines Strong diagnostic capability using modern tools and systems Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently Confident communicator with a customer-first mindset High attention to detail, particularly with job costing and administration Role Structure & Flexibility This is a part-time position (2–3 days per week), offering a high level of autonomy and responsibility. It is ideally suited to a seasoned technician who enjoys taking ownership of their work and contributing to a growing division, while maintaining a flexible working schedule. We are open to structuring days and hours to suit the right person—consistent days are preferred, but flexibility is available.
