Wheako Pōneke Experience Wellington is seeking City Gallery Wellington Hosts to champion exceptional visitor engagement across our front of house team for Te Whare Toi City Gallery Wellington. Reporting to the Kāiarahi Wheako Manuhiri | Manager, Visitor Experience - Galleries; This role ensures every interaction reflects our values, from gallery floors to curated events, and sets the standard for service excellence. To be a part of our team you must be committed to creating a remarkable experience for visitors of all ages through multimedia exhibits, interactive galleries, historical treasures of Pōneke and sharing the rich history each unique site holds. These are fixed term roles with a varying range of hours at Te Whare Toi City Gallery Wellington starting August 2026 to host the Cornelia Parker exhibition opening October 10, 2026- March 7, 2027. Successful applicants will receive full City Gallery Wellington training prior to exhibition opening and must be available for full time work for the duration of this training period - no exceptions. Proventrack recordin visitor engagement, retail, and/or public speaking. Skilled and confident communicator, able to engage with a wide range of topics and connect meaningfully with visitors from diverse backgrounds, interests, and lived experiences. Demonstrates initiative and autonomy, while working collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes. Training or experiencewithhospitality/bar service or basic sound and AV systems would be a plus. Previous experience and success in welcoming, engaging and serving audiences, visitors or customers. Demonstrated inclusionary behaviours with experience working with a diverse range of people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Demonstrated commitment to Te Ao Māori and the use of simple Te Reo words and phrases, including greetings. Expert in front of house administration and proficient Office 365 users. Passionate about art, science, history, museums, or community building - sometimes all of these and more. Flexible people committed to ensuring we can deliver all our services and programmes to the people of Wellington and beyond, able to work occasional late nights, weekends and public holidays as rostered.
