Chief Advisor Health, Safety and Wellbeing Work Visa required: All applicants will be required to provide proof of their eligibility to work in New Zealand. About the role Reporting directly to the GM for People and Culture, this role carries Board-level presence & responsibilities, lead a small purposeful team of HSW professionals. It is a leadership role with genuine scope to make a lasting difference. Duties Champion Health, Safety & Wellbeing across the organisation Oversee audit and compliance programmes, including contractor safety standards and PCBU management Lead the Environmental Management System in alignment with ISO 14001 Coach and build health and safety capability in leaders and teams across the business Represent the organisation in external health and safety industry obligations and contractor safety interfaces Skills and experience We’re seeking a highly capable health and safety professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to influence at a senior level. You’ll bring in-depth knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, along with familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. Professional membership with HASANZ or NZISM is preferred, alongside current accreditation (or a clear pathway toward it) in compliance auditing within the electricity supply industry. Experience with industry frameworks such as Electricity Engineers’ Association rules and SM-EIs would be advantageous. Above all, you will be an influential leader with a proven ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including executive and Board and build strong, trusted relationships across the organisation and wider supply chain. Tertiary qualification in OHS, Safety Management or equivalent Significant experience as a SME in high-risk, operationally focused environment Proven change management capability, embedding culture change Crisis management and incident response capability at an organisational level Culture The organisation offers a collaborative, forward-looking culture that values teamwork, open communication and shared accountability.
