Training & Employment Kaiarahi - Youth Pathways

Ngati Ruanui Tahua Limited is a whanau ora service provider in South Taranaki, offering a kaupapa Maori, holistic approach to supporting whanau and our wider community. Our services encompass kohanga reo, early childcare, whanau ora and social services, iwi support and clinical practices. We are seeking a Training & Employment Kaiarahi - Youth Pathways to join our Whanau Ora team and support the delivery of He Poutama Rangatahi - South Taranaki. This is an iwi-led youth training and employment programme supporting rangatahi aged 15 to 24 who are not currently in employment, education or training, and who may be facing barriers to participation. Reporting to the Programme Lead - Youth Pathways, this role will provide direct support, mentoring, practical training and employment assistance to rangatahi participating in the programme. The successful applicant will work alongside rangatahi to support goal setting, work readiness, training, employer engagement, placement preparation and post-placement support. The ideal applicant will have strong connections to South Taranaki and a genuine passion for supporting rangatahi to build confidence, develop skills and move toward sustainable employment, education or training pathways. They will be comfortable working in a kaupapa Maori environment and will bring warmth, credibility, sound judgement, strong communication skills and a mana-enhancing approach to working with rangatahi. About the Role This role walks alongside rangatahi throughout their journey in He Poutama Rangatahi - South Taranaki. The Training & Employment Kaiarahi will build trusted relationships, support individual pathway planning and provide practical mentoring and coaching before, during and after rangatahi move into employment, education or training. This role will: Build positive, trusted and culturally safe relationships with rangatahi and whanau. Support rangatahi to identify their goals, strengths, barriers and aspirations with a view to developing individual employment, education and/or training plans. Provide regular mentoring, encouragement and practical support. Assist rangatahi with work readiness, employability and confidence-building activities. Support CV preparation, job applications, interview preparation and workplace readiness. Help rangatahi understand workplace expectations, communication, reliability and time management. Assist with practical barriers such as transport, driver licensing, documentation and employment start-up needs. Support employer visits, training opportunities, work experience and placement preparation. Liaise with employers, training providers and whanau where appropriate to support positive outcomes. Keep participant records, case notes, engagement records and progress updates accurate and up to date for reporting and outcome tracking. About You To be successful in this role you will: Have experience working with rangatahi, whanau, community agencies and/or youth services. Have experience in employment support, mentoring, education, training, social services or iwi services. Understand barriers affecting rangatahi including transport, low qualifications, limited work experience, financial hardship, housing instability and mental health challenges. Be confident providing practical mentoring, coaching and goal-setting support. Be confident liaising with employers, training providers, schools, whanau and community agencies. Be practical, solutions-focused and able to anticipate issues before they become barriers. Be confident using Microsoft Office and mobile IT applications. Have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Hold a full, clean and current NZ Driver Licence. What We Offer Competitive remuneration.
