About the Role An exciting opportunity has opened foran ESOL Tutor to join our School of English on a 12-month fixed-term basis. Reporting to the English Programme Leader, you will deliver engaging, learner-centred English language teaching and contribute to assessment, moderation, student support, and academic quality activities. Key responsibilities include: Planning and delivering effective ESOL lessons in accordance with approved programme requirements. Creating an inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive learning environment. Assessing learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback. Participating in internal and external moderation processes. Maintaining accurate attendance, assessment, and learner progress records. Identifying learners who may require additional academic or pastoral support. Working collaboratively with the Programme Leader, tutors, Student Services, and other academic staff. Contributing to programme reviews, professional development, meetings, and continuous improvement activities. Supporting compliance with NZQA requirements and the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. About You The successful applicant will ideally have: A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification. A recognised ESOL teaching qualification, such as CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, DELTA, or an equivalent qualification. Previous experience teaching English to adult learners, preferably within a New Zealand tertiary or international education environment. Experience with assessment and moderation processes. Strong lesson planning, classroom management, and learner engagement skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Confidence using Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, student management systems, learning management systems, and digital teaching tools. An understanding of NZQA quality assurance requirements and the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. The ability to work effectively with learners and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds. A collaborative, professional, and learner-focused approach.
