Fire Alarm Technician - Central Otago/Queenstown Aotea Fire (NZ) Limited – Queenstown, South Island Aotea Fire (NZ) Limited is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Alarm Supervisor to join our growing team in the Queenstown and Central Otago region. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our clients' properties through the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems. As a Fire Alarm Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical services whilst building strong relationships with our clients. This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of commercial and residential properties, contributing directly to fire safety compliance and risk mitigation in our community. Key responsibilities Install, commission, and test fire alarm systems in accordance with relevant New Zealand standards and regulations Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of existing fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance Diagnose and repair faulty fire alarm equipment and systems, providing timely solutions to minimise downtime for clients Respond to emergency callouts and system faults with professionalism and efficiency Document all work completed, including system specifications, maintenance records, and compliance reports Provide technical advice and guidance to clients regarding fire safety systems and best practices Liaise with clients, building managers, and other contractors to coordinate work schedules and ensure project completion Keep up to date with relevant fire safety legislation, standards, and technological advancements in the industry Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order What we're looking for Formal qualification or certification in fire alarm systems installation and maintenance (or equivalent industry-recognised training) Proven experience working as a Fire Alarm Technician or in a similar fire safety technical role Sound knowledge of fire safety regulations and standards relevant to New Zealand, including the Building Code and applicable fire safety legislation Strong technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system faults Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Valid New Zealand driver's licence with a clean driving record The ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach Physical fitness and the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces safely Current First Aid certification is desirable Experience with various fire alarm system brands and technologies is advantageous What we offer At Aotea Fire (NZ) Limited, we are committed to supporting our employees' professional development and wellbeing.
