Job Description
Attika is seeking an experienced Architectural Designer to join our growing team in our Christchurch Office. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on diverse commercial architectural projects, from concept through to completion. As an Architectural Designer, you will play a crucial role in translating client visions into innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs. This position is integral to our practice, allowing you to contribute to projects that shape the built environment whilst developing your professional expertise within a collaborative and dynamic company environment. Key responsibilities Developing architectural design concepts and presentations for a variety of project types and scales Preparing detailed design drawings, technical documentation, and construction specifications using industry-standard software Liaising with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure design intent is realized throughout the project lifecycle Conducting site analysis and research to inform design decisions and project feasibility Managing design development from early sketches through to detailed design phases Preparing planning applications and supporting documentation for building consent submissions Collaborating with the wider design team to ensure cohesion across projects and practice standards Maintaining awareness of current building regulations, codes, and architectural best practices What we are looking for A recognized qualification in Architecture or Architectural Technology (or equivalent professional qualification) Proven experience working as an Architect or Architectural Designer within a professional practice environment Proficiency with industry-standard design and visualization software, including CAD applications and BIM tools Strong technical knowledge of building design, construction methods, and building regulations Excellent communication skills with the ability to present design concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders Demonstrable experience in producing high-quality design drawings and technical documentation The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to delivering solutions that balance aesthetics and functionality Knowledge of local planning requirements and the resource consent process in New Zealand (desirable) Experience with 3D modelling, rendering, and architectural visualization techniques (desirable) What we offer At Attika, we are committed to fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
