Kaiāwhina (Teacher Aide)

Rosehill School is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and empathetic Kaiāwhina (Teacher Aides) to support our amazing ākonga. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with significant and complex learning needs. Rosehill School in South Auckland is looking for energetic, reliable, and empathetic individuals to join our team as Kaiāwhina(Teacher Aides) , both casual and permanent, supporting our amazing ākonga. We are a large, multicultural specialist school with a proud connection to our Māori and Pasifika communities. What the role involves Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team Supporting ākonga with a range of learning, communication, and developmental needs Helping create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment Assisting with daily routines, participation in learning, and school activities Building positive relationships and serving as a strong role model for young people Participating in indoor and outdoor learning experiences, community-based activities, and recreational programmes Providing physical assistance and support where required Physical Requirements Supporting students with personal cares including toileting, and physical assistance where required Participating in outdoor activities, community-based learning, and recreational programmes Working confidently in active and dynamic learning environments Details Hours: 9am to 2.30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only) Locations: Base school or satellite classes in Manurewa and Papakura What we’re looking for: Good spoken and written English A calm, confident, and team‑focused approach People who are dependable, flexible, and willing to learn Experience with autism or special needs is helpful (training provided) Cultural Knowledge Familiarity with Māori or Pasifika values, language, or practices is a real asset. Bonus A full driver’s licence is an advantage.
