About the Role\n

We have an exciting opportunity for a FACEM-qualifiedEmergency Medicine Specialist to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis.This position provides planned cover for a number of senior cliniciansundertaking sabbaticals, offering the successful applicant the opportunity tobecome an integral member of one of New Zealand's leading EmergencyDepartments.

As an Emergency Medicine Specialist, you will providehigh-quality clinical care across the full spectrum of emergency presentations,including both adult and paediatric patients. Working within a supportiveconsultant group, you will participate in a 7-day roster and on-callresponsibilities while contributing to the ongoing education and supervision ofjunior medical staff.

Working closely with senior nursing and multidisciplinarycolleagues, you will help ensure safe, timely and patient-centred care in a fast-paced tertiary environment.

About the Team / Service / Location\n

Christchurch Hospital's Emergency Department is locatedwithin the state-of-the-art Waipapa building and is one of Australasia'sbusiest Emergency Departments, seeing more than 130,000 presentations annually.

The department is accredited by the Australasian College forEmergency Medicine (ACEM) for advanced training and offers an outstandingclinical environment supported by experienced emergency physicians, strongmultidisciplinary collaboration, and a culture focused on education, qualityimprovement and innovation.

\n

About You\n

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Fellowshipof the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or anequivalent recognised qualification
  • \n
  • Eligibilityfor vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • \n
  • Experiencemanaging a broad range of adult and paediatric emergency presentations
  • \n
  • Excellentclinical leadership and decision-making skills
  • \n
  • Acollaborative approach and commitment to teaching, supervision andcontinuous improvement
  • \n
