Senior Advisor - Data Match & Business Support Fixed-term, full-time position for 12 months based in Christchurch. Applications open to current Health New Zealand employees only. Lead the end-to-end MBIE data matching process to support accurate, defensible eligibility and funding decisions. About the Role As a Senior Advisor – Data Match & Business Support within Audit & Assurance, you will lead and deliver the end-to-end data matching process with MBIE to identify ineligible individuals and ensure public funding is directed appropriately. This includes data preparation, matching, assessment, implementation of outcomes, and supporting accurate and defensible decision-making. This is a senior, analytical and relationship-focused role where you will work across complex and sensitive data, liaise with MBIE, PHOs, general practices, service providers and internal Health New Zealand teams, and support the notification and challenge processes associated with data match outcomes. You will play a key role in ensuring the process is timely, accurate, consistent and aligned with privacy and confidentiality obligations. Alongside the data match function, you will provide broader business support across Audit & Assurance. This includes contributing to business-as-usual activities, responding to requests for information, supporting Health Integrity Line complaint resolution, preparing regular reporting for ELT and RAC, and identifying opportunities to improve audit systems, workflows and processes. You will also work closely with the Manager, Computer Assisted Tools and Techniques (CaaTs), support knowledge transfer and capability building, liaise with auditors and investigators to understand data requirements, and help maintain collaborative relationships across Health NZ, government agencies and other external stakeholders. About you As an experienced Senior Advisor, you will bring strong analytical judgement, advanced data-handling capability, sound business support experience and the ability to work with highly sensitive information in a complex public sector environment. You will be confident working with multiple stakeholders, managing competing priorities, and supporting accurate and defensible decision-making. You will also have: Experience managing the end-to-end data match process with MBIE. Five or more years' experience as a Senior Advisor or Manager in business analysis, risk, intelligence or a related field. Familiarity with Health NZ business functions such as commissioning, finance, Pharmac, community providers or similar areas. Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel, with practical experience in data handling, analysis and reporting. Experience using SQL to query and extract data from databases, and proficiency in i2 Analyst's Notebook or similar analytical tools. Strong project management skills, including the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities and meet goals within required timeframes while maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality. The ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships across the public and private sectors, related industry groups and community interest groups. A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles meaningfully in your work. A strong commitment to equity, including supporting Māori-led and Pacific-led responses and contributing to equitable health outcomes for all people. Experience working in a senior public sector role and experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action would be advantageous.
