We provide free, professional, and confidential counselling to anyone impacted by gambling harm and integrate this with a strong health promotion programme in communities. Starting from a small telephone counselling service over 25 years ago, the organisation has evolved into a national provider, with a stepped model of care and a public health programme that works alongside counsellors. You can learn more about us on our website: https://www.pgf.nz/ About the role As our permanent Peer Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing direct support to individuals recovering from gambling harm. The position involves walking alongside people in their recovery journey, role modelling hope, and facilitating processes that enable individuals to live a life free from gambling harm. You will be working collaboratively with our clinical team to meet the needs of our clients. What you will bring The successful candidate will have: Has lived experience of gambling harm - we are looking specifically for an affected other. If you have supported or lived through someone else's gambling addiction, we want to hear from you. If you sought help from PGF Services or other gambling harm support services, this is advantageous. Have a Level 4 or above peer support or lived experience health qualification or be willing to work towards it Have a working understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles Have the ability to work cross-culturally and engage with diverse communities Has confidence in public speaking and is comfortable sharing their lived experience in group settings, community events, and workshops Is comfortable working in diverse environments, including alcohol and drug rehabilitation services, mental health settings, schools and prisons Have high standards of record keeping Have a full driver’s license Be competent in data entry and experience with Microsoft 365 programmes is desirable These skills are highly desirable for this position; however, we are willing to provide training for the right candidate.
