Operations Manager

We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead operational services across our hospice sites, ensuring our facilities and support services run seamlessly to enable the delivery of exceptional specialist palliative care. Mo te tunga | About the role The Operations Manager role sits at the heart of Harbour Hospice, ensuring our teams have safe, compliant and well-run work environments. Reporting to the Head of Commercial and Operations, you'll lead the operational services that keep Harbour Hospice running effectively across our retail and hospice sites, ensuring our facilities, infrastructure, administration, and support services enable exceptional experiences for turoro/patients, whanau, staff, and volunteers. You will: Provide strategy and management of of facilities, buildings, infrastructure, maintenance programmes, and capital projects, ensuring our environments remain safe, compliant, fit-for-purpose, and welcoming. Lead procurement, supplier, and contractor relationships, negotiating and managing contracts that deliver value for money, high service standards and effective risk management Lead hospitality, reception, and support services, ensuring turoro/patients, families, whanau, visitors, staff, and volunteers experience a welcoming, responsive, and well-coordinated service environment. Maintain a strong focus on operational quality, compliance, risk management, business continuity, and audit readiness across all operational functions. Lead operational services across Harbour Hospice, ensuring safe, efficient, customer-focused, and consistently high-quality services across all sites Manage operational budgets, assets, fleet, and resources, identifying opportunities to optimise expenditure and maximise organisational value Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, standardisation of processes, and the implementation of systems that improve efficiency, quality, and value for money. Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team creating a high-performing culture aligned with Harbour Hospice's values and commitment to exceptional care. This role is primarily based at Hibiscus Hospice in Red Beach and requires regular travel across all Harbour Hospice sites. You are an experienced operational leader with a strong background in facilities and service management, ideally across complex, multi-site environments. You are highly organised, commercially astute, and comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership. To succeed in this role, you'll bring: Significant experience in operations and facilities management. Strong procurement, contract management, and supplier relationship experience. Experience working within a values-led organisation, with a commitment to service excellence and person-centered care. Strong communication, collaboration and people leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams. Knowledge of building compliance, maintenance programmes, asset management, and contractor oversight. Experience working within regulated or compliance-focused environments. Experience managing operational budgets and resources.Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building capability. Strong technology literacy and confidence supporting operational systems and improvements. An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and the ability to work effectively within a bicultural environment. Experience within healthcare, aged care, or the not-for-profit sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
