Healthcare Assistant - Fixed-Term Maternity Cover Korowai Aroha Health Centre is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team on a one-year fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover. This is a full-time position based in Rotorua. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical and administrative teams, ensuring our patients receive exceptional care and support. This position is essential to maintaining the high standards of care our whare hauora is known for whilst we cover for a team member's maternity leave. What you'll be doing Supporting nurses and GPs with clinical procedures and patient care. Preparing and maintaining clinical areas, equipment, and supplies. Assisting with taking and recording basic observations (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, weight). Supporting infection control processes and patient flow within the clinic. Providing compassionate and respectful care to patients and their whānau. Support the uptake of health targets. What we're looking for Have prior experience working as a Healthcare Assistant (preferably in a primary care or community health setting). Someone who is willing to expand their scope of practice with support from the team. Demonstrate a high level of empathy and cultural awareness, particularly in relation to Māori health. Be friendly, compassionate, and genuinely care about supporting whānau. Be proactive, reliable, and organised in your work.
