We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Delivery Manager to lead and oversee paving operations across the Lower South region based in Dunedin. This is a key leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring profitable project delivery, and supporting the continued growth of our paving and asphalt operations. The role will provide leadership and strategic direction to regional paving teams while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. Working closely with Paving Managers, Contract Managers, and wider operational teams, you will play a pivotal role in developing capability within field teams and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders and clients. This role may also involve supporting wider transport operations across the Lower South business and offshore work opportunities within the South Pacific when required. Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of paving and asphalt delivery across the Lower South region. Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of asphalt paving works, from daily planning through to completion Coordinate plant supply, logistics, crews, and traffic management to maximise daily production Manage multiple paving sites simultaneously, adjusting resources to meet changing site conditions Provide strong on‑site leadership to paving, rolling, and ancillary crews Set daily work plans, production targets, and quality expectations for site teams Monitor crew performance and productivity, addressing issues proactively Mentor foremen and leading hands to build capability, accountability, and consistency Manage staff rosters, leave, fatigue, and training needs Oversee critical path paving programmes, ensuring updates and reviews are completed regularly. Respond effectively to weather, plant breakdowns, and programme changes Support variations, claims, and post‑job reviews with accurate operational input Drive improvements in paving methods, crew performance, and quality outcomes. Develop strong relationships with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Lead by example in promoting a strong Zero Harm culture. You will be an experienced operational leader with a strong background in asphalt, paving, or civil infrastructure delivery. You will bring strong leadership capability, commercial awareness, and a commitment to safety and team development. Ideally, you’ll have: Proven leadership experience within civil construction, paving, or infrastructure operations. Strong project delivery and contract management experience. Financial and commercial acumen. Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills. A proactive approach to safety, quality, and risk management.
