Job Description
Kookaburra Veterinary Employment – Whangarei, North Island No experience required 15d ago , from Kookaburra Veterinary Employment We're looking for a veterinarian to join our forward-thinking, independently owned small animal practice in beautiful Whangārei. This opportunity has arisen as one of our long-term veterinarians heads overseas for her OE. You'll be joining a team of 10 veterinarians supported by an experienced nursing and client care team. We will consider any level of experience, including new/recent graduates. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive environment where new graduates can develop with confidence. Over the past 15 years we've mentored several new/recent graduates, and almost all have chosen to stay with us long term. We are committed to providing a high standard of surgical, medical and diagnostic care and invest heavily in our equipment. Our facilities include a top-of-the-range veterinary ultrasound, a full suite of Zoetis laboratory analysers (including being the first clinic in New Zealand to install the OptiCell haematology analyser), dental radiography with a brand-new iM3 dental unit, high-quality CR radiography and a K-Laser. Our caseload is varied and interesting. We routinely perform TPLOs and TTAs, have veterinarians with special interests in cardiology, diagnostic imaging, medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology and exotics, operate a rehabilitation service led by our Head Nurse, and provide veterinary care for the Northland Police Dog Section. We also have convenient access to CT and MRI imaging at an excellent human radiology facility less than one kilometre from the clinic. We're a friendly, collaborative team who genuinely enjoy working together and discussing cases. We also have excellent relationships with referral specialists in Auckland. CPD is highly encouraged and supported and there is room to develop special interests, if desired. We value work-life balance and strive to maintain a fair, sustainable roster. Afterhours is currently on a 1 in 10 roster. As an independently owned practice, we make our own clinical and business decisions, invest in the equipment and services that benefit our patients, and maintain a genuine team culture. Whangārei offers an outstanding lifestyle, with beautiful beaches, native bush walks, great mountain biking, fishing and diving (the famous Poor Knight's islands are right on our doorstep!), and easy access to the Bay of Islands and other amazing Northland spots—all while avoiding the traffic and cost of larger cities. If you're looking for a practice where you'll be supported, challenged and encouraged to develop your skills, we'd love to hear from you.
