Full Stack Developer

Streamline Business NZ limited – Auckland, North Island Laminar Solutions builds and supports production software used in real operational and financial workflows across Australasia. We're part of the Streamline Business Group (streamlinebusiness.group) and work across multiple long-lived products while building new services alongside them. The role We're looking for a Full Stack Developer to work across existing production systems and new services. This is a role with end-to-end ownership (i.e., design, implementation, deployment, and support). You'll contribute alongside a small distributed engineering team that reports to the Engineering Manager. Our stack PHP (Laravel): existing production systems Python: data-driven services and workflows REST APIs, async and event-driven patterns Frontend Data Relational databases (MySQL & PostgreSQL) Multi-tenant or logically isolated data models Cloud AWS hosting & delivery infrastructure Containerised workloads (ECS/Docker) Serverless services (e.g. Lambda, event-driven integrations) What you'll do Extend and maintain existing systems safely and predictably Design and build new backend services or utilize serverless microservices effectively Design APIs and data models that operate securely and efficiently at scale Build SPA frontends with clear component boundaries and API-driven state Deploy and operate services in AWS (containers and/or serverless) Design with security in mind: OWASP Top 10, least-privilege IAM, auditability Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions What we're looking for You don't need everything, but you should recognise yourself in most of this: Solid full stack experience delivering independently in a production environment Backend experience in PHP (Laravel) is preferred Solid relational database fundamentals (performance, correctness, migrations) Experience building SPAs with a modern framework Comfort operating systems in AWS or a similar cloud environment Experience with containers and/or serverless architectures A practical, security-aware engineering mindset Clear communication around trade-offs and design decisions Writes maintainable code and asks good questions when scoping unfamiliar work Excellent communication skills in English to collaborate with stakeholders Nice to have Financial or sensitive data systems Event-driven or asynchronous architectures Experience modernising or evolving legacy systems Security & compliance Laminar is currently working towards ISO 27001 certification. Practicalities Based in Auckland. Hybrid: minimum 2 days a week in our CBD office, with occasional extra days requested in advance for specific meetings.
