Range Officer: Real Guns Rifle Range

Real Guns Limited – Queenstown, South Island Real Guns NZ Ltd is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Range Officer for our Rifle Range in Wanaka, Otago. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service at our shooting facility. As Range Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing all range operations, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, and providing expert guidance to shooters of all skill levels. This role is integral to our mission of providing a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for our clients. This is a Wanaka Based Job Role. Key responsibilities Supervise and manage activities on the rifle range. Conduct safety briefings and inductions for all range users, including proper handling, shooting techniques, and emergency procedures Monitor shooter behavior and range conditions at all times, intervening immediately to address any safety concerns or violations Perform regular inspections and maintenance of range facilities, equipment, and safety infrastructure Provide advice and instruction to shooters regarding firearm safety, marksmanship, and range protocols Contribute to continuous improvement of range operations and client experience What we’re looking for Valid New Zealand firearms license with Range Officer or equivalent certification, or willingness to obtain this certification Demonstrated experience working in a firearms or shooting range environment knowledge of New Zealand firearms legislation, safety regulations, and best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and instruct shooters confidently Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining rigorous safety standards Physical fitness and ability to perform duties that may require standing for extended periods, lifting, and movement around the range Professional demeanour and the ability to remain calm under pressure Customer service orientation and commitment to providing an excellent experience for all range users Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic Preferred: Experience in firearms instruction, military or law enforcement background, or previous range management experience What we offer Staff Accommodation available!
