Senior Solicitor | Corporate and Registries Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment NZ – Mount Victoria, North Island Full time, Permanent 21d ago , from Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE) We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Solicitor to join our Corporate and Registries team.The Corporate & Registries team provides legal advice to all MBIE’s operations, including in relation to MBIE’s 17 different regulatory systems and on governance, integrity and conduct matters that touch the organisation. Due to flexibility within the team, there is scope for our lawyers to work in relation to different regulatory systems, depending on their experience and interest. This also means that we can offer significant opportunities for developing experience across a broad variety of subject areas and building your career within MBIE. New Zealand’s future economy will have a different mix of industries, jobs, and skills. MBIE’s advice in these areas will inform decisions that re-shape New Zealand’s economic future. In this role you will have the opportunity to provide legal advice on a broad range of matters including climate change, sustainability, and the future of work. Your clients may be involved in implementing upcoming legislative reform in areas of building, employment, or health & safety. You may be advising across MBIE’s occupational regulation functions, space matters or working across Government on matters like Space Weather. MBIE collaborates with business groups in providing data and technology to enable delivery on the opportunities, challenges and priorities that lie ahead for Aotearoa New Zealand and that is where your experience in the areas of privacy, official information and information sharing is a plus. In this role you will work with other in-house counsel providing high quality and timely advice on a wide range of legal issues. You will need to be technically proficient, agile, adaptable and a strong communicator. You will work with autonomy in a collaborative and supportive environment and share your knowledge with others to provide advice and support on some of MBIE’s most complex and legal matters.
