About the Role As a Personal Assistant to the Operations Leads and Associate Director of Nursing within Surgical Services, you will have the opportunity to support quality healthcare service delivery. This is an opportunity to use your secretarial skills within a dynamic fast paced environment. You know that you will be making a meaningful contribution to better health outcomes. About you Do you have these key competencies? Excellent word processing skills (preferably Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Recognised typing qualification and accurate keyboard skills. Knowledge and experience of office systems. Proven above average organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritise, forward plan and make sound decisions. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work unsupervised and as a team member. Excellent command of English, and ability to display excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to summarise information and write reports. Demonstrated ability to show discretion, tact, diplomacy, cultural awareness and sensitivity. Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanour at all times. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people, public and professionals. Ability to diffuse challenging situations. About the Team/Service Surgical Services incompasses the in-patient wards, Intensive Care Unit, along with the peri-operative suite and out patient clinics. You will be working alongside exceptional clinicians and support staff providing surgical specialist healthcare. Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua - MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
