Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of plant and equipment across the site. You’ll be responsible for both preventative and breakdown maintenance, as well as contributing to improvement projects and equipment upgrades. This role requires a proactive, solution-focused individual who can work independently and as part of a team to minimise downtime and keep production running efficiently. You’ll be responsible for both preventative and breakdown maintenance, as well as contributing to improvement projects and equipment upgrades. This role requires a proactive, solution-focused individual who can work independently and as part of a team to minimise downtime and keep production running efficiently. Key Responsibilities Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimise plant downtime Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and routine inspections Perform corrective maintenance on plant and machinery as required Set up, align, and troubleshoot sawing centres (training provided) Identify and resolve cutting faults outside of saw doctor duties Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects, including design, manufacture, and installation Improve plant reliability and overall equipment performance Assist with workshop repairs including machining, welding, and fabrication Maintain accurate maintenance and parts records Ensure high standards of housekeeping in the workshop and plant Work collaboratively with contractors and other site technicians Operate machinery as required for testing and fault finding Comply with all health & safety policies and procedures About You Qualifications & Licences: Maintenance Engineering qualification (Level 4 or higher) Full NZ driver’s licence Forklift licence (desirable) Experience: Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Understanding of sawmilling equipment and processes (preferred) Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability Personal Attributes: Self‑motivated with the ability to work unsupervised Strong focus on health & safety and quality standards Physically fit with good stamina Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and shift requirements Strong attention to detail Effective communicator and team player Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as required If you’re a hands‑on Maintenance Technician looking for your next challenge, be part of a team committed to delivering world‑class timber products. #J-18808-Ljbffr
