This is Te Tumu Paeroa, guardian, support and advancer of the mana of Māori land everywhere. Our role is to provide professional trustee services for Māori. We do this by carrying out the terms of trusts and ensuring whenua is protected and enhanced for future generations. Te Tumu Paeroa is seeking a senior Product Owner to take end-to-end business ownership of its new digital platform, My Whenua. With a strong future focus, this is a rare opportunity to bring together product leadership, kaupapa Māori, and real-world impact. My Whenua is a significant digital platform that enables meaningful, ongoing engagement between Māori landowners, whānau, trustees and their whenua. This is shaped by Te Tumu Paeroa values and Māori Data Sovereignty principles, which guide both what the platform delivers, and how it is delivered. At the centre of our delivery approach is Kotahitanga, working collectively, respectfully, and with shared purpose. To create a platform that places whenua at the heart of everything we do, empowering owners, whānau, and stakeholders through meaningful and purposeful engagement with whenua information. This role focuses on coaching and lifting product ownership capability. You’ll work closely with the Product Sponsor, technical teams, and the wider organisation to keep the product active, relevant, and evolving, and you’ll engage directly with whānau and owners to ensure the platform is intuitive, inclusive, and genuinely useful. This isn’t about maintaining a static system. You’ll be trusted to own the product, shape its future, and help turn My Whenua into a thriving digital engagement channel that: Is easy and welcoming for whānau to use Can grow and evolve as services expand over time As Product Owner – My Whenua, you will: Enable meaningful, respectful engagement with whenua information Support informed decision‑making now and for future generations Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog end‑to‑end Be the primary decision‑maker for product priorities and value Engage with kaimahi, owners, and trustees to design intuitive, accessible digital experiences Balance new delivery with long‑term sustainability so the platform can scale as services expand over time Keep the product active, visible, and moving forward across the organisation Qualifications and experience Strong experience as a Product Owner in complex digital environments Confidence owning product strategy, roadmaps and backlogs A user‑centred mindset and the ability to translate real‑world needs into digital solutions Experience engaging directly with external users and stakeholders Confidence working within kaupapa Māori environments Commitment to culturally safe, respectful engagement Pae Rua- Te Whakarongo | An ability to understand Te Reo Māori, a desire and ability to practice correct pronunciation of Te Reo Māori (essential) Pae Rua- Te Noho Marae | An understanding and living of Tikanga Māori on a noho marae level.
