Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation – Wellington Central, North Island Full time (permanent) – 37.5 hours per week Are you wanting a rewarding role that makes a real difference? Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation (HELP) supports individuals, whānau and communities impacted by sexual violence in Wellington, Porirua and the Kāpiti coast. Sexual harm can happen to anybody in our community. HELP offers support to anyone who has encountered sexual abuse or assault. We recognise that sexual violence does not only impact an individual in isolation, so we extend support to friends and whānau. Wellington HELP social workers support the emotional and practical needs of clients referred to our service. We are looking for a registered, or working towards registration, social worker to join our growing team, and will consider new/recent graduate applications. Duties include: Providing ongoing therapeutic and practical intervention across Wellington and Porirua for clients impacted by sexual violence, including family/whānau in accordance with HELP’s policies and procedures and those of SWRB and ANZASW. Justice Advocacy delivering services to survivors/clients in the NZ justice process who have been impacted by sexual violence. Supporting and minimising the impact of harm during the justice process. The role requires strong writing skills, the ability to complete thorough assessments, and developing client led plans that set clear goals and objectives for clients. Advocacy for people impacted by sexual violence including family/whānau. Access support for the client or family/whānau needs, maintain their wellness, and to make referrals to other agencies when necessary. Development and delivery of educational programmes to various audiences as requested. Maintenance of administrative records relating to client work according to confidential and ethical guidelines. Manage your own caseload with the support of your Senior Social Worker. Skills/ Experience : A recognised social work qualification and current registration with the Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) Work experience with children, young people, adults and family/whānau Experience in mental health and the sexual violence sector is useful A demonstrated ability to develop and practice safe ways of working with vulnerable groups Trauma-informed therapeutic approach Up-to-date knowledge regarding sexual harm, Police procedures and Court processes are desirable.
