Senior Mechanical Engineer – Energy & Industrial At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future. What you'll do As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Energy & Industrial team based in Wellington, you'll help deliver projects that power New Zealand's industrial future. Working alongside experienced engineers and project leaders, you'll contribute to complex multidisciplinary projects, build trusted client relationships, and develop innovative mechanical engineering solutions across a diverse range of industrial sectors. Lead the delivery of small to medium-sized engineering projects from concept through to commissioning, ensuring successful outcomes for clients and the business. Provide mechanical engineering expertise across industrial facilities, including detailed mechanical and piping design, technical specifications, and drawing management. Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams, taking ownership of technical delivery and developing into future project and commissioning leadership opportunities. Mentor and support junior engineers, helping build capability across the team. Develop strong relationships with clients while contributing to proposals, project planning and technical problem-solving. Travel to client and project sites across New Zealand, gaining hands‑on exposure to industrial mechanical plant and construction activities. What you’ll bring Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering recognised under the Washington Accord. Around 7+ years' experience in mechanical engineering within industrial, manufacturing, energy or related sectors. Experience delivering multidisciplinary engineering projects with strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills. Technical capability in mechanical and piping system design, including hygienic and pressure piping systems, surge analysis, pipe stress and hydraulic analysis. Familiarity with PECPR requirements, AS/NZS 1170, the ASME B31 suite of codes, or equivalent engineering standards. Experience using, or a willingness to learn, specialist piping software such as AutoPIPE, PIPE‑FLO or similar. A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills and a willingness to travel to project sites across NewZealand. How we support your growth We believe your career should be a rewarding adventure.
