Heavy Diesel Workshop Foreman

Southpac Trucks is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Workshop Foreman to lead the day-to-day operations of our Rotorua workshop. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to an experienced heavy diesel technician who knows how to keep work moving, maintain high standards and bring out the best in a workshop team. You will oversee technicians, electricians and apprentices, coordinate workflow and allocate jobs to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. You will also remain actively involved in diagnosing faults and supporting complex repairs when required. About the role Your key responsibilities will include: Coordinating daily workshop workflow and allocating work across the team Monitoring job progress and helping minimise vehicle downtime Leading, supporting and developing technicians and apprentices Diagnosing faults and assisting with complex heavy diesel repairs Ensuring servicing and preventative maintenance requirements are completed Maintaining strong standards of workmanship, safety and compliance Ensuring service records, inspections and workshop documentation are accurate Reporting workshop performance, issues and resource requirements to management Supporting the effective management of workshop parts, tools and supplies About you To succeed in this role, you will have: A Level 4 heavy diesel qualification or equivalent At least 10 years’ heavy diesel experience within the road transport industry Previous supervisory or Foreman experience in a heavy diesel workshop Strong technical diagnostic and problem-solving capability The ability to lead calmly and effectively in a busy workshop Clear communication and strong organisational skills A genuine focus on quality, safety and customer service A Class 5 licence and formal leadership or supervisory training would be advantageous. This is a permanent, full-time position working 45 hours per week, generally Monday to Friday. Some flexibility and occasional weekend work may be required to meet workshop demands.
