Maintenance Technician - Electrical & Instrumentation

We’re looking for an experienced electrical or instrumentation technician to help maintain the safety, reliability and performance of our generation assets. Based at our Geothermal site, Nga Awa Purua and Rotokawa sites, 20 minutes from Taupo, this is a hands-on role where you’ll bring strong fault-finding skills, coordinate maintenance activities and help ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard. You’ll become a trusted technical resource for the site, supporting planned maintenance, urgent defects, outages and plant improvement work. You’ll also build operating capability to provide backup support to the Production Technician team and take part in an after-hours on-call roster. Work alongside passionate colleagues and be provided with all the necessary tools and equipment to excel in your role. You'll receive regular on-the-job coaching, a personal develop plan tailored to your goals and opportunities to move within Mercury as opportunities arise. We're also ramping up our in-house training programs, with pathways to gain additional qualifications relevant to your role. Tāu e mahi ai | What you’ll be doing: Carry out planned, corrective and urgent electrical or instrumentation maintenance Diagnose faults and respond to plant issues in a timely and practical way Scope, plan and coordinate non-complex maintenance and defect work Help maintain asset reliability, availability and performance Supervise maintenance activities and onsite contractors Ensure work orders are planned, completed and closed to the required standard Support outages, turnarounds and plant improvement projects Identify and implement opportunities to improve maintenance and asset performance Collect and document plant performance and maintenance information Build the required station operating and first-response competencies Provide after-hours first-response support as part of an on-call roster Champion safe work practices and support strong health and safety outcomes You’ll be a practical and proactive technician who can work independently, respond calmly under pressure and build strong relationships across maintenance, operations and engineering teams. instrumentation pathway Experience within generation, manufacturing or heavy industry electrical pathway A Level 4 Electrical Trade Certificate A current Electrical Practising Licence Experience within generation, manufacturing or heavy industry You’ll also bring: Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability Plant maintenance experience in a heavy process or manufacturing environment An understanding of asset management and maintenance practices Confidence working with contractors and internal stakeholders Clear written and verbal communication skills A collaborative, resilient and self-motivated approach Experience with power station maintenance or operations, hazardous-area work, project delivery, scheduling or Maximo would be an advantage.
