Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Duty Manager for Macau Restaurant & Bar to join our team in Tauranga Central, Bay of Plenty. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to co‑lead our restaurant and bar operations on a day‑to‑day basis. As Duty Manager, you are responsible to the Restaurant Manager you will be one of the key points of contact during your shifts, ensuring exceptional service delivery, maintaining high operational standards, and creating a welcoming environment for our guests. This role is crucial to the success of our establishment and offers the chance to make a tangible impact on both our team and customer experience. Key responsibilities Oversee all daily restaurant and bar operations, ensuring smooth service delivery during shift times Manage staff scheduling, briefings and performance to maintain high service standards Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, licensing laws and company policies at all times Handle customer queries and complaints professionally, resolving issues promptly and maintaining guest satisfaction Monitor stock levels, food quality and beverage inventory, liaising with suppliers as needed Maintain till management, process payments and ensure accurate financial transactions Train and mentor team members, providing guidance on service excellence and operational procedures Conduct opening and closing procedures, including security checks and facility inspections Manage reservations and table allocation to optimise customer experience and venue capacity Report on operational performance and escalates issues to senior management when necessary What we’re looking for Proven experience working in a hospitality management role within a restaurant and bar environment Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, licensing requirements and hospitality compliance Proficiency in till systems, point‑of‑sale (POS) software and basic financial management Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast‑paced environment Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays A current food safety certification or equivalent qualification is highly desirable What we offer A position at a well‑established successful restaurant for more than a decade.
