Use your kindness, practicality and great sense of humour to support a lively 23-year-old man with who has complex physical, communication and cognitive disabilities. Based in a supportive family environment in Shetland Street, Wakari. Full training given and almost always someone around to help. Job tasks Transfers (using appropriate equipment) Supervising/assisting with eating Hygiene requirements including hand and face cleaning, toothbrushing, toileting assistance Snack and drink prep Basic medications Occasional light household tasks Dressing/footwear changes Provide support & oversight of leisure activities: Be present during ‘downtime’ to provide feedback, companionship and oversight Often on computer - love of movies, gaming, streaming helpful! Potential for out of home activities – walks etc. Assist with physical therapy as required: Stretching and exercises – mostly floor based Speech/swallowing therapy exercises Monitoring and encouraging standing time. Our ideal candidate Is friendly, kind, motivated and reliable Has a great sense of humour and enjoys a laugh Is tech-savvy Has good general health and is fit and active – able to assist with stretches and transfers Full drivers licence helpful but not essential Attitude and personality more important than experience. Shifts and employment Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday 3pm til 5.30pm Sunday 9am – 12 noon Potential sleepover shifts in the future for the right person. Pay rate is $27.00 per hour after tax. Support workers paid by ACC are deemed to be contractors and you will need to fill in an IR3 at the end of the year. We can explain more and assist with the simple process.
