Job Description

VinLink Marlborough - Blenheim, South Island Perform accurate and timely chemical analyses of juice and wine using a range of analytical methods and laboratory instrumentation in accordance with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure analytical results are entered into the winery management system promptly and correctly. Maintain the laboratory to a high standard of cleanliness, readiness, and organisation, including preparation of reagents, cleaning of equipment and glassware, and compliance with preventative maintenance and calibration schedules. Assist the Production Winemakers with all winemaking activities during vintage and winemakers leave, including preparing and updating job notes, maintaining accurate production records, liaising with clients, participating in sensory evaluations, and supporting day-to-day winery operations. Act as a liaison between the Cellar, Laboratory and winemaking teams to ensure effective communication and execution of production priorities. Coordinate and monitor winery raw materials, laboratory consumables, and winemaking additives as instructed for Laboratory Manager or Production Winemakers. Undertake all activities required in your role to maintain compliance with company and client quality programs including, but not limited to, BRCGS, WSMP and SWNZ. Ensure all laboratory and production activities are carried out safely, efficiently, within agreed timeframes, and in accordance with documented quality standards, maintaining the quality and integrity of all wines produced. Support the induction, training, and supervision of seasonal and permanent cellar and laboratory staff as required, while maintaining associated training records. Provide leadership and technical guidance to cellar and laboratory personnel when required. Participate in the review, development, and implementation of laboratory and winery SOPs, quality, company policies, and continuous improvement initiatives. Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) legislation, Regulations, and Code of Practice relevant to your work, as well as VinLink Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures. Perform winemaking and laboratory duties in accordance with VinLink's Standard Operating Procedures and operate all plant and equipment safely and effectively. Contribute to producing the highest quality wines for VinLink clients while meeting product specifications, production schedules, and client expectations. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, cost awareness, and operational efficiency throughout the winery and laboratory. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities reasonably required to support the successful operation of the business. Support and help develop a positive workplace culture. Skills, Experience & Education Minimum 3 years' experience as a winery laboratory technician. Minimum 2 years' experience in wine production. Technical knowledge of equipment (including but not limited to: receival equipment, clarification, filtration, flowmeters, Winescan 3, Alcolyzer, Spectrophotometers, etc.). Advanced written and oral communication skills as well computer literate. Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work to multiple deadlines.
