Job Description

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for you to joinour small team delivering excellent building compliance services in Porirua. Thisis a role where your compliance mindset and sound judgement will make a realdifference to the community. About the role As a key member of the team, you’ll deliver buildingcompliance services across a broad range of functions. You’ll play an importantpart in helping ensure buildings meet regulatory requirements and are safe forpublic use. In this role, you will: Undertake onsite building compliance audits, includingchecks of building warrants of fitness (BWoF), specified systems, and means ofescape from fire Prepare clear and accurate building complianceaudit reports for building owners and industry professionals Carry out compliance schedule and BWoF tasks,including checking received BWoFs, and writing and issuing compliance schedules Process certificates of public use applicationsand undertake inspections to support decision-making Apply appropriate education, compliance andenforcement tools to resolve building non-compliance issues and complaints Support pool barrier audits and process relevantcertificate of acceptance applications Support specified systems assessments forconsenting applications Carry out cost recovery for audits and BWoFreturns What you’ll bring You’ll be a practical and confident compliance professionalwho can demonstrate: Experiencein compliance, investigation, enforcement, or building regulatory work Abilityto interpret legislation, exercise sound judgement, and make cleardecisions Knowledgeof building compliance, including building warrants of fitness andcompliance schedules Strongunderstanding of the Building Act 2004 and wider regulatory environment Strongcommunication skills and the ability to work constructively with a rangeof stakeholders, including building owners, tenants, and industryprofessionals Strongdocumentation, record-keeping, and time management skills Commitmentto ongoing learning and development Currentunrestricted New Zealand driver’s licence This is an opportunity to be part of a small, effective teamwhere your strong judgement and decision-making skills are valued.
