Based in Christchurch, we are seeking a Financial Controller to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for overseeing the company's financial reporting, compliance, treasury activities, payroll, and financial controls as well as providing day-to-day leadership to our finance team. The role also acts as first line support to our team for our company IT systems and managing relationships with external IT providers. Key responsibilities will include: Leading the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial analysis and reporting for senior management. Supporting budgeting, forecasting and strategic decision-making through high-quality financial insights. Managing cash flow forecasting, treasury activities and foreign exchange exposure across multiple currencies. Leading small finance team responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll functions to ensure accuracy, compliance and strong working capital management. Maintaining robust financial controls, processes and compliance frameworks across the business, and ensuring statutory reporting and all tax obligations are met. Acting as the subject matter expert for our inhouse ERP system and driving system improvements. Managing relationships with external IT providers and overseeing company hardware and systems administration. What you will bring: A proven track record in a similar Financial Controller role, or a CA-qualified Finance Manager/Financial/Management Accountant with the capability and ambition to successfully step into a more senior position. Experience gained within a Big Four accounting firm would be highly regarded. A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, together with a current CA or CPA Australia designation. Commercially minded professional with experience managing treasury, cash flow forecasting and working capital. Proven ability to engage confidently with senior leaders, providing trusted advice and influencing strategic and operational outcomes. Strong interest in using technology to improve business performance and user experience, with practical experience administering ERP systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred, but not essential. Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills. A passion for identifying opportunities to improve, streamline, and strengthen systems and processes to support organisational effectiveness. Proven people leadership experience and the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
